"Big Rob" heading to Carson-Newman

It didn't take long for assistant coach and recruiting coordinator David Crawford to know whether or not he wanted Robby Ignagni, the 6'3 310 lb. offensive and defensive tackle from Station Camp, after looking at the tapes. His main concern was if he could land the prospect. "I don't know if I can get him," said Crawford "but I sure going to try." Hot on Ignagni since the spring of 2009 the eagles coach never relinquished. With interest from such notables as Vanderbilt, UT-Chattanooga, Southern Illinois, and UT-Martin, it was Carson-Newman that landed the Station Camp senior. "I've worked hard and been coachable over the last four years," said Ignagni on what he felt helped to get him to the collegiate level. "We're extremely proud of Robby for what he has meant to the program at Station Camp, and what I know he can become if he continues to work,"said Coach Hollinsworth. With only limited playing time as a sophomore, Ignagni came on after the first 3 games of his junior season and by the end was dominant force for the Bison by the end of the year. "Robby is a tough individual," said Coach Hollinsworth. "I'll never forget one of the guttiest performances I've ever seen this past season during the White House game when he played the final quarter with a broken hand and refused to come out," said Hollinsworth "that's Bison Pride."
